Well, looks like my vote counted in Arkansas, but in the grand scheme of things, it didn’t make much of a difference on the national scale. I wont speak evil of Obama, but I will continue to speak the truth. I will support him where I can, but I cannot sellout my values. I will pray for him every day (as I have done with Bush) and I will hope that he really is a Christian and is sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading.
I also hope that the “republicans” see the writing on the wall. This was not a sign for them to move to the left. Republicans lost because McCain was never a conservative. You will never win if you rely on a candidate people will vote for only because they are voting against the other guy. Only 23% of conservatives were excited to vote for McCain while 52% of Liberals were excited to vote for Obama. That wasn’t because one delivered a better speech, it was because the principals they stood on. McCain kept leaning left and the more he did, the more votes he lost.
This election was the second referendum on the “liberal republican” & “left-leaning conservative”. The first was 2 years ago in the house/senate elections. Looks like they didn’t get it. PAY ATTENTION Republicans. I’m not afraid to vote for a 3rd party who represents true conservatism.
So, what do conservatives need to do? Besides, PRAY… 76% of Americans still consider themselves conservative. The problem is education. Most of the conservatives do not have the knowledge to defend their own beliefs or even KNOW what they believe. They start to talk about them with someone and the other person tosses this media talking point out that seemingly defeats the conservative argument because the conservative does not have the knowledge of the lie or statistics for the truth to respond. This is partially due to the liberal leaning educational system & college professors and the liberal leaning media, however one can overcome that through personal study. It really falls on the shoulders of the individual. That is what is missing. Study. Research. Think. Debate. Refine.
NOW is the turning point.
It is up to the conservative movement to educate the uneducated on how capitalism works; how the right to bare arms is not just a “sportsman’s right”, it is a right for YOU; how the fairness doctrine would actually silence the voice of the right; how a balanced budget, alternative energy, and drilling now is a necessity; how America promises the same opportunity not the same prosperity; how abortion robs unborn Americans of this opportunity by killing them; how “cap and trade” would murder our economy; how “global warming” lacks evidence to support the theory and allows the US to lean communist (who have partnered with the movement); how a Marriage of a Man and Woman is best for children and families; how higher taxes are bad for the economy; and redistribution of wealth is a Marxist principal that does not work and removes one’s initiate to succeed! Time to get back to the basics.
Study. Research. Think. Debate. Refine.
