I was so excited to hear about GI Joe the movie coming out in 2009. However, I was quickly disappointed when I heard that you are changing my childhood hero to be “politically correct.”
Excerpt:
“No longer will G.I. Joe be a U.S. Special Forces soldier, the “Real American Hero” who, in his glory days, single-handedly won World War II.
In the politically correct new millennium, G.I. Joe bears no resemblance to the original.
Paramount has confirmed that in the movie, the name G.I. Joe will become an acronym for “Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity” — an international, coed task force charged with defeating bad guys. It will no longer stand for government issued, as in issued by the American government.”
I’m tired of the PC crap! What happen to honoring & praising our special forces, soldiers, & their heroism? What happened to PRIDE in our country? There isn’t anything wrong with being PROUD to be AMERICAN! I LOVE our country & I LOVE the men and women who have fought for it!
The GI Joe’s worked with other countries to defeat Cobra! I remember that from when I was a kid! There were all races, creeds, colors, sexes, and faces on GI Joe… but they stood for an awesome American fighting force which is how our country was formed & how we’ve continued to rescue others!
I got one of the best early birthday gifts EVER! Katie gave me season tickets to see the Diamond Hogs!! I guess she read my Peanuts and Cracker Jacks post!
Last night was the season opener against Wright State. This was slated as an “easy opener” for the Hogs and a tough match for Wright State, however, WS was picked to win their conference (The Horizon League). Last year, WS traveled to Ole Miss for game 1 and took 2 games to win the series! They are a dangerous team.
I picked Katie up from school and we went pretty almost straight to the game. I had listened to some on the radio before we left and WSU had scored one in the first inning with one of our Rookie pitchers, right hander, James Mahler. He is going to be great, but last night was a rough night for him.
It was going to be a cold night. We guessed about 35º but it turrned out to stay under 29º the entire night! There was some “snowy misty” every now and then. The lights were on since the game started and it was a dark, cloudy, opening day with just 681 in attendance.
We arrived at the top of the second inning only to find that WSU had scored 4 in the first off of 5 hits and Arkansas only had 1 hit. Dallas Keuchel came into the game and walked the first man he faced but then he began sitting them down with his off speed nastyness. That guy has some great ball movement! There were players backing off of the plate only to have the ball curve in for the strike. At one point, he faced 12 straight with no hits! That gave room for our offense to start going.
We were behind 4 – 0 and the hogs began to take some bases. Our junior college transferee Chase Leavitt hammered two-run, triple to right center with two outs remaining. We added four more runs in the 6th inning when our Sr. first baseman, Aaron Murphee hit a two-RBI, single through the left side. Then the hogs went on a tear! The veterans showed up, Forsythe, Tschepikow, Murphree, & Wilkins all scored big in a 9 hit crush! Wilkins hit a Home Run into the pond over right field and scored 3 RBI’s and two runs on the night. Logan Forsythe walked twice and stole a base.
Near the end of the game, it seemed that the Wright State pitchers were having a hard time NOT hitting our players. The crowed was jumping all over him & the umps for doing nothing about it.
Wells (a Bryant High School Alum) came in to finish the game with 2.1 innings of work allowing just 2 hits and striking out four. Keuchel got the win without allowing a single hit in almost 7 innings!
Thanks for an incredible birthday gift, honey! I look forward to many more hours of baseball, right beside you!
Anyone remember science class? Photosynthesis? The process plants go through when they convert Carbon & Water & release Oxygen?
Tonight, on KNWA, they did a special report about “living green” and in it they suggested that more “greenys” are moving to synthetic grass yards to conserve water. I will accept 2 false premises for this question: #1. That we don’t know how to convert ocean water into fresh water (Distillation & we can even use Solar Power) & #2. Global Warming is happening & is bad (but it isn’t: Source 1 | Source 2)
Ok… so my question is, if the world turns to “synthetic yards” what is going to happen to the excess CO2 in the atmosphere due to the decrease in the CO2 that is converted into Oxygen through Photosynthesis? Doesn’t that contribute MORE to green house gas & further global warming? I don’t understand how this helps at all.
Plus, isn’t part of the reason that people “go green” because they want to support the “natural way of life”? This should mean that if you are in an area that cannot naturally support grass, you should learn to enjoy dirt or rock or move! I think trapping rain to water your lawn is a much better solution.
Check out some of these “global warming” videos below!
I’m so excited! I just saw an add for Razorback Baseball! Tickets are On Sale now! You know, if anyone at all wanted to send me an early birthday gift… I wouldn’t say No to season tickets!!!
If all else fails, I’ll be selling some plasma! I wasn’t a big fan of baseball until Katie took me to my first game in my Senior Year of College! Now, I can’t get enough of Razorback Baseball!
When I was a kid, I never understood the strategy. I’d hear my Paw Paw listen to the Braves and think about how boring it sounded! Even HE would fall asleep & HE was a fan! But now, I understand the strategy. I understand the importance of game 1 pitching & game 3 hitting! I know how important the coaches are & how the fans clapping and yelling on a 3-2 pitch can change the game!
This year is going to be a great year for the Razorbacks. Our opener is February 22nd against Wright State at HOME! I’ll see you there!
