Pumpkin Party!

Last night we had a BLAST carving Pumpkins for our community group! We decided to depart from our usual “game nights” to work on our carving skills. Katie and I chose to do one large pumpkin using a stencil. It acutally turned out pretty good for our first time. I was never really a big pumpkin carver so it is a little rough around the edges, but it works for us! Below are a few of the other photos from our fun night. My forearm still hurts from all that carving all those little holes! Tim (Mr. Experienced) pretraced his stencil before he came. Next year I think we will do the same. We were definately one of the last ones to finish! If you have never carved a pumpkin before, you may not want to carve one with 5 pumpkin faces in the design! Enjoy the photos!

9 Months & Counting

Today is a very special day! 3/4ths of a year… 9 Months since Katie and I got married! We celebrated some last night by watching several of the episodes in the 2nd season of lost and then we went to IHOP at 11:00 at night! When we came back, we finished out the Lost dvd’s that we had rented because we had to return them today!

This is our first real weekend off with out anything to do. No classes, no work for her, no work for me. Just us & the dogs hanging out! We actually slept in until 9 this morning (LATE for us!) and then got up and cleaned a lot of the house. I even gave the dogs a bath. They were REALLY dirty from the recent rains. Now they look like black silk.
Katie continued to clean the house as I took a break and watched the Hogs play! We beat Ole Miss to a pulp! 38 – 3! That oughta look good to the BCS people who actually put Auburn at #4 believe it or not! We beat them 27 – 10. We are #13 by their standards. I’m sure Monday will be different! Hopefully we will move on up. This win today pretty much seals the deal for a bowl game for us. We are 6-1 overall (4-0 in SEC). Currently we are the only undefeated SEC team (in conference play). If we beat TNN or LSU then we will be going to the SEC Championship game! Supposedly, we can lose 1 and still go, but sometimes all those things change! We will wait and see.

After the game, Katie and I went to the Applegate craft festival which is about 5 miles from our house! We spent and LONG time there looking at everything… twice and then we decided that we really didn’t find much that we couldn’t live without. We actually got a few ideas there and went to hobby lobby to get the “factory” version for much cheaper. It was a great shelf that Katie has been looking for since we got married and we finially found it! 50% off at that! Hobby Lobby sould change their name to 50% off because everytime I got in there it is all 50% off!

We have to get up early again tomorrow to get back in our sleeping pattern. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the new look of our blog.

Freedom!

It’s amazing! I don’t have to go to Red Robin and work tonight… or ever! Thank you JESUS for the Freedom that focusing on my career provides! I’m in it! Real Estate is my profession now (even though I’m still waiting of the FBI to pass my background check). Now I at least have time to devote to studying the book some more and getting ready to pass the tests. Also, I have time to really poor into my career there and give it my all! Not only that, Katie and I will have the weekends TOGETHER! That is HUGE! We just realized that we were only married 3.5 Months before we took on extra jobs in order to pay down our debt! Was it worth it? Yes!, but we really miss each other! Not only that, we feel that we have also missed valuable time with the Lord! It was tough when we had to work so late and got home so late and got to bed so late to wake up early and spend time with our Heavenly Father in the morning. I can tell you, many days, we just chose not to. That had a larger affect on our marriage than working two jobs did! That is forsure!

A few days ago I found a podcast: Love Worth Finding Ministries with Dr. Adrian Rogers who has now passed away. I listened to the message: How to Have a More Meaningful Quiet Time and it has REALLY blessed mine and Katie’s life! Please click the link and have a listen! For a couple of days now, Katie and I have been following some of his recomindations and it has really blessed our lives. Acutally this morning I’m writting on the blog to help wake me up before I dig into the word.

In our community group, we are studying 1 John so Katie and I are reading in 1 John and meditating on it every morning. We also look in the Psalms & Proverbs as Dr. Rogers suggested. There are 5 Questions that he ask when reading & meditating on scripture:
1. Is there a Command to Obey?
2. Is there a Promise to Claim?
3. Is there a Sin to Avoid?
4. Is there a Lesson to Learn?
5. Is there a New Truth to Carry with me?
These 5 questions help illuminate the passage to greater understanding and use in our everyday lives.

Well, that is it for me. I need to get the day started. I have several friends who “blog” now and in the next post I will highlight my friends who are in missions blogging around the world! I’ll also link to many of them over on the side.
